Hell, I knew I wanted one last week, but I’m half-inclined to change my mind in light of the name.
LOL! I know what you mean Pat… I told Joey on twitter that the name made me think of menstruating… Still want one anyway I’ll just change the name and say it’s an Apple Tablet. If some one says it’s an iPad, I’ll tell them NO! it’s an Apple Tablet. Ha.
Another Apple item that we can’t live without.
I’m really getting tired of all the “must have” tech items Steve keeps throwing at us.
It’s over-priced, lacking in too many areas, and to be honest…a little bit ridiculous.
It doesn’t have flash capabilities…OMG! How short sighted is THAT?
Overpriced? I think not. Limited? I agree.
The inability to play flash is huge but a minor software issue that can be fixed in time (should be fixed). My biggest frustration is with the inability to multi-task in more than one app at the same time. Imagine being on your laptop and only being able to work in one window at a time! I will wait for Gen 2.
Valerie as for Engadget, I was right there with you. I work in the Film and Telivision world, we had a circle around a bigscreen watching as the 15 sec refreshes came up. It was sadly monumental.
Scott, sure we can live without Apple’s stuff. Many people do. They just don’t know what they are missing out haha!!
You’re tired of technology development and innovation? Many companies “throw things” at us. I don’t feel Apple is.
Please explain to me what it is lacking of, why it’s over priced and why it’s ridiculous. I’d like to understand your reasoning. Maybe it’s just not something you need.
Flash is a fuck, crap full of holes and vulnerability and the fact that we absolutely have to use it to make videos compatible with everyone, that my friend is short sighted. We have to move to html 5 (youtube -love you Google- is beta-testing it now and I’m following). Always hated flash. When a site has a flash intro, I hit the back button. To bad, better luck with next visitor. But this doesn’t mean it’s not going to be updated on the iPad. It the first version remember?

Yes I love Apple and what it has done for me all these past 15 years.
The real ridiculous thing about the iPad is it’s name. Period. What were they thinking!? It’s all over now : Maxi Pad vs iPad. You can say it: ridiculous.
E : I agree that multi-tasking is a must. But isn’t that a software issue, something that will get fixed with a simple update? (It’s a question and I have not done my homework on this issue)
On an other point, maybe it’s not necessary? I mean it’s not an issue on the iPod, why would it be on the Apple Tablet (No it’s an Apple Tablet
). I think we have to try it first and see because we may not use it the same way we use our laptop or desktop computers.
The feeling I get with the Apple Tablet is “comfort”. You know, sitting in a comfortable chair, near the fireplace, doing e-mails, watching films and all.
I agree that it could be as simple as an update unfortunately, i was hoping that update would have been announced yesterday. It is one thing about my iphone that drives me nuts.

check out the link above. It is for the Palm Pre. Although the Palm will never truly compete with the Iphone, It holds Key elements that i think the Iphone and the Itablet should have.
I agree with you about the use of the Itablet. I would use it primarily while lounging in the living room or on the metro in and out of work. For me it would replace my iphone for my undying need to be online and connected. Whether its posting here or reading up on real world news (something we cant get here in the US on TV), or maybe even enjoying a full frame game; I believe that the tablet will definitely revolutionize the way we interact with technology.
I personally working in Post production, So i am impatiently waiting for the day when we have a full size multi touch monitor or imac. can you imagine editing in Final Cut or Avid with a drag and drop with your finger? Not to mention its applications in After Effects. It will be amazing.

You’re right, Val. Sometimes my cynicism gets the best of me.
Not being into movies the way you are I had no idea about Flash. All I know, like on my Blackberry, I can’t watch a lot of videos because of no Flash capabilities.
It’s just a bigger iPod Touch. The whole thing with the iPhone was having “everything” you need in one package.
Now here come iPad…now you need two things again. For a decent sized amount of storage, which it barely has, you are already up to the $600 mark, and another $130 for 3G…which if you don’t get, you’ll be sorry. Why even make a non-3G model? It doesn’t multitask either, which is a bummer!
The thing that is cool is that it’s a reader…which I’ve wanted since the Kindle came out.
The iPod is great, but I hate using iTunes. New, more restrictive versions come out almost on a daily basis.
I just think it’s too much money for what you get.
You know what they say: Opinions are like assholes, and they all stink.

CNET reviewed the iPad, and they found it to be slightly nicer than an iPhone. The best part being the reader (which I really want).
Say what you want, but Microsoft knows how to hit the mark.
Okay, what I really want to know is this…..will there be as sexy of a picture of Val and her iPad as there is of Val using her Mac?
