What am I up to?

p1010501In my last post where I apologize for not linking the new TAOBJ’s update, I told you I had lots on my mind and lots to do. Maybe you wonder what’s so much to do in a girl’s life like me. Maybe not, if so stop reading and just look at the pictures. Pfff! :D

So I want to bring back the nice wooden floor hidden underneath 2 layers of the most ugly tiles I’ve ever seen. When they’re removed, the floor is very sticky, so much that I have to use much strength to move :)

The white bowl is filled with cooking oil. Surprisingly enough, it makes the job much easier. When I’ll be done, I’ll wash the floor with cooking oil to remove all the glue.

Still a lot more to do. The brown tiles are easier to remove then the white/blue ones. But the efforts will be worth it… We will have a nice living room at last.

Time for home made lemonade. Recipe anyone? 3 lemons, juiced, 5 times the lemon juice of water and raw agave sirup to taste. Delicious.

A self portrait. It the first one I am actually fully in frame. I have not been very successful with self-portrait yet (have not practice very much either, why would I want to take my picture with a cheep camera while I have a pro-photographer that can make me look 10X more beautiful then I really am?!!! :D )

That’s my new drug. It’s like cocaine for me. I get really, really high on very dark chocolate. Apparently, I’m not the only one who gets high on chocolate. Better that then drugs, no?

  1. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. I attempted the same sort of project in my house in Memphis Tennessee, however, one of the previous owners had used a rubber-based glue, and the wood was not salvageable, had to cover it up with carpet.

BTW, you look HOT in those glasses, I think you could do well at SP. Check out this cutie:

Good luck with the floors, I’m sure you’ll end up with a much-satisfied feeling when finished.

  2. God you look busy, gotta try that chocolate.
    Good luck with the floor.

  3. Thanks a lot my dear! I can’t wait till the darn tills are all removed. It harder then I thought and my hands, legs and back hurt. I almost fainted yesterday when I got up from being squatting lol.

Anyway, try the chocolate and tell me if it has nice effects on you too :D

  4. I know it’s going to be nice when the wood floor will be revealed. To bad you had to cover with carpet… I like carpet between my toes lol!
Thanks for the compliment :) I know Jane… she is a very pretty woman! I even did a post on her here because I found her idea so original and she’s very talented.

  5. 1 – Yes dark chocolate is highly addictive but at least it bring some joy in our life.

2 – covering that floor like the previous owner did was a crime, i know the area where you live and the inner design of those houses are amazing sometimes.

  6. and i forgot to mention try the gas for lighter next time, the one that came inside a yellow canister it really help to dissolve the glue.

  7. Yes Eric, the apartment has some very nice features, unfortunately the previous renters didn’t seem to appreciate the wood everywhere.

    Thanks for the tip!!

  8. I cannot believe that anybody would decide that linoleum tile would be better than wooden floors. Most people pay a sheer fortune to have wooden floors everywhere.

The hilarious thing is that whoever covered up the wood floor in the first place obviously wasn’t thinking about the future as somebody had to put yet another layer of tile on top of it. What a waste of money.

Wooden floors require that you have to wax it at worst case (newer ones don’t even need that), but regardless they last forever and it matches just about any decor. At worst case you can buy a rug and use it to fix contrast problems.

  9. I think those floors look like they will be gorgeous! And you are stunning in pictures taken from ANY camera. You don’t need a pro photog.

  10. Kev in her situation it’s more you need to use a based oil varnish if i remember because it’s a very old wood, those houses have around 100-130 years old if my memory is right.
