Sodomy, Sodomie or Sodomi

I don’t remember what draw me to search for the word sodomy… ah yes in fact I do :) I was reading what is not OK in bed for Christians and saw sodomy. In english it means many things - all unnatural sexual activity like oral sex, homosexuality and bestiality. (Please view Aaron’s comment below for the right information )

Now it got me confused because in french, sodomie just means a penetration of the anus with the penis or an object resembling the phallus.

And according to wikipedia, in german (sodomie) and norwegian (sodomi) mean zoophile.

Definitions aside, how about some little anal play?

  1. nice way to show us your description of the word…
now i think about sodomy is a great concept.

  2. In English sodomy means penetration of the anus with the penis or other phallic object as well, and that is what you would get if you asked most native English speakers. But the in the US the christian right have slowly worked to have the legal definition changed to mean any type of sex they don’t like, so the very vague sodomy laws (which thankfully are starting to get overturned by our higher courts) can apply to almost anything “they” want them to.
Personally the government, and anyone else I don’t invite, needs to keep their nose out of my sex life. You, of course, are cordially invited.

  3. Thanks Aaron for clearing things up. I’m glad we are on the same longueur d’ondes :D

  4. OMG, it’s mean we are about to have a preacher and a lawyer telling us how to love and how to make love at this rate.

  5. Regardless of the name, it’s pretty hot stuff - one of my favorite pleasures, and your picture is a lovely view of the proceedings.

Sans vouloir être quetaine, vous faites des ondes sur ma longueur…!

  6. Blaming “the Christian right” for the broad definition of “sodomy” only betrays great and gross ignorance. “The Christian right” didn’t exist until the 20th century. The use of “sodomy” as any sort of socially “unacceptable” sex practice can be traced in English at least as far back as AD1297.

  7. We don’t need to tell anyone how great and gross their ignorance is, please. I guess everyone has their own understanding of facts and ways of interpreting them.

I thought I read that too, that the word “sodomy” refers to any sort of socially “unacceptable” sex practice on Wikipedia and also on some religious website quoting the Bible.

    - So I will not remove part of your comment Bryan because I believe in freedom of speech (real freedom, no censorship) but it doesn’t mean I approve such behaviors.

  8. [...] Sodomy, Sodomie or Sodomi [...]

  9. Thank you Valerie for elucidating these terms.. so presumably it is in fact possible to practise sodomy and sodomi simultaneously. And be careful what you ask for in Trondheim.
