We Will Find Your Porn - Resistance is Futile

There’s a new tool to find pornography on your computer. It’s the SurfRecon 2008, a new rapid-image-analysis tool made available for the first time to law enforcement, parents, business owners, and schools.

The article about SurfRecon emphases a lot on the suspects in comparison to the product’s website were you can read thing like:

Is there any pornography hidden on your computer?
You may be shocked by what you find.
Are you putting your family, you career and your own mental health at risk?

Scan computer to find porn

It’s a good thing against those sick people consuming kiddy-porn but I have not yet formed any opinion for parents, business owners and schools.

What do you think? Is this a good tool or is it going against freedom and in the case of parents, education?

PS: Don’t be fooled by the screenshots: if you are on a Mac, you don’t need it of course, no Mac drones - it’s usually called a zombie, but “drones” goes better with my title - have been reported. It’s just that everything looks so much better on a Mac ;)

  1. No problem with this type of stuff for institutions, where you’re supposed to be working anyway, or for law enforcement as you suggest, but the real problem with things like this is illustrated by their phrase as follows:

“…or wandering spouse from access pornographic content”.

If that’s a problem in your couple, no software tool is going to help!
