Sunday’s Sermon on Sexual Purity: The Denial of what Makes us Very Human

I sort of freaked out because I understood a bit more why sex is such a controversial subject for religious people as I read this passage of the Bible (No! I don’t own a Bible, I’m not that crazy)

1 Corinthians 6:15-20, “Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, ‘The two will become one flesh.’ But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit. Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”

Yes I know, this is just common nonsense but you have to admit that it explains why Christians need to be sexually pure - God is holy, we must be holy - and are fiercely disputing and fighting anything and anyone who dare go against their believes of what is acceptable and what is prohibited.

Some preachers argue that God himself made sex and that good Christians should not think that He is against it - although almost everything the Bible teaches is about the prohibited stuff.

Speaking of prohibited sexual behavior, here are ten’s that most Christian would agree with (the list is not exhaustive, I know):

  1. Incest - Agree: Anything that has to do with little girls and little boys is upsetting, disgusting and well you know
  2. Homosexuality - Strongly disagree: I love women and understand how someone can be attracted to others of the same sex
  3. Rape - Strongly agree: Duh
  4. Consensual sex with one other than your mate (that’s when you are not married and have sex with your girlfriend or boyfriend with whom you’ve been for 2, 5, 15, 20+ years or that pretty girl or handsome Joe you meet at the -ice cream-bar) - Strongly disagree: Marriage is such a waste.
  5. Adultery - Somewhat Agree: Not because you’re having sex with someone else but because you are lying to the person who has the most confidence and faith in you
  6. Lust - Strongly disagree: It’s nature at it’s best!
  7. Prostitution - Strongly disagree: But I can have a clear reason as to why. It’s been there for so long and we all need it.
  8. Bestiality - Strongly agree: Your dog doesn’t speak otherwise it would tell you to fuck someone else and besides, he’s your best friend, not your fuck friend
  9. Sex during menstrual period - Strongly disagree: WTF?
  10. Harm the body - Disagree: As long as there are rules and limits

Note: I’ve posted later then usual because I had to do lots of research and I know very little about religions, the Bible and so forth.

I apologize that this is also a longer post then usual but I thought it would be interesting to discuss. So go ahead and “speak” what you think in the comments, don’t be shy :)

  1. I really enjoy your Sunday Sermon, since I don’t have the time to go to church , I feel relief. Keep up the Sunday Sermon it’s really great to read, congratulation.

  2. Religion is only a tool to control the crowd. You can be spiritual without being religious and controling sexuality was another way to control the population. We are half spiritual and half animal and sex is needed to give our animal side what it need to stay in balance.

  3. Amen sister, I agree with you on all your points !

Especially the homosexuality, if it is what makes you happy, go for it.

  4. Interesting thought Eric. I like this: “half spiritual and half animal”

Thank you Gar, I do go for it!

  5. It’s not coming from me but from an old man very religious who used to use the analogy of the white dog and the black dog. If you give food only to the white dog, the black dog die and you die. If you give food only to the black dog, the white dog die and you die again.
